The things kids say...

So I am still behind on the blog - shocking I know - but I figured I'd pop in and post quickly some funny things Grace has said lately. Well things that cracked us up anyway!

A few weeks ago Grace had strep and since she had a fever the day before she was not allowed at school. We had gotten a new prescription for her glasses so I figured I would take her to pick some new frames since her fever was gone. We dropped Jack off at school and headed to the eyeglass shop that I knew took our insurance since Brian & I get our glasses there to see what kind of frames they had for kids. We pulled up at 8:58 - they were supposed to open at 9. 9 came and went and they still weren't open. Grace calmly looked at me and said, "mom, I think you just need to relax. This is no big deal. We should just go to Starbucks and come back." So we did.

This past weekend we were out to dinner and true to form Grace had to go to the bathroom in the middle of dinner. Sometimes I think she just likes to check out every restaurant bathroom. I took her to the bathroom and while hanging out doing her business she says, "mom, sometimes I like to look at my poop when I'm done. I like to see how big it is."

Kids say the darnedest things!

Mom & Dad go Out

In October, Brian & I even got to venture out for some fun. We enjoyed ourselves at a Bronco game and went on the Stranahan's Whiskey tour for Brian's birthday with some friends. It is always nice to get out alone and keep our marriage strong and makes us more patient parents after a little break.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

We went to a local green house to get pumpkins this year. It wasn't your traditional pumpkin patch, but it was still fun and perfect for kids our ages. We got our pumpkins for the season and had lots of fun going through the hay maze. I think we will visit this pumpkin patch for a few more years as everyone had lots of fun.

Are you ready for some football?

Jack is!

Iowa Trip - September 2013

In September we headed to Iowa to see the family. We thought going in September would mean it would be a bit cooler and less humid, but we were wrong! It was blazing hot, but we had lots of fun anyway. It was great to get some cousin time in and Brian took me to my first Iowa Hawkeye game. We had such a great time. Grace & Jackson had a blast playing with all of their cousins and seeing their Nana, Papa Charlie, Grandma Barb, Papa Steve and Great Grandma - among lots of other family.

It is rough to travel with kids at this age, but they did great. Hopefully as funds are available we can visit more often. The adventures will continue!

Grave loves to sing

I caught Grace singing one day on the back deck. I had to start taking a video of her as it was just so cute. She caught me right after I started, but she kept on going. Love this video - it is just so Grace!

And another video that was rehearsed. Love her version!

Grace starts preschool - officially!

Grace has been going to a wonderful daycare center for the past two years. As she turned 4 it meant her moving up to the pre-kindergarten class. I wanted to start a new tradition of taking her photo everyday in front of our house each year - here's hoping I remember to each year. Here she is on her first official day of pre-kindergarten.

The outtake - :)

Jackson at 9 & 10 Months & Summer Fun

We took the kids to see the Chicago Cubs play the Colorado Rockies - Jack's first Cub's game and baseball game. We had fun. Jack was definitely antsy since he was just starting to crawl then, but we survived and had a nice family outing.

Jack's 9 month photo.

And 10 months - this is one of my favorite photos of him.

And finally, Jack with his girlfriend Brynn - so sweet.

Grace turns 4!

It's hard to believe that my baby is 4. Grace is such a loving, sassy, sweet, smart and funny girl. Grace decided she wanted a simple pool party at home again. It was so much fun to have her friends from school this year come over along with our family friends. Grace was so spoiled and loved. It was such a perfect day.

Grace got a bike from Grandma Gina and she was very excited.

The day of her birthday was a school day so she wore her birthday girl shirt and brought a treat to school. She loved sharing a special treat with her friends.

Finally, here is a little questionnaire I had Grace do. I hope to remember to do this each year with both children to see how their tastes grow and change.
