Time to Catch Up

We have been slacking lately on updating the blog. We have been somewhat busy, but not really any more than normal - I think we have just been busy playing with our little walker! Grace is a busy bee walking everywhere.

First a photo of Grace "brushing" her teeth. I think she likes to chew on the toothbrush more than brush and she hates when I try to brush her teeth, so we are working on teeth brushing without a meltdown.

After bath time comes more walking. Grace went through a phase when she was crawling where she loved crawling around naked after bath time, now though she is all about running around naked after bath time. She thinks it is hilarious! We have to attempt, it makes us smile every night.

Our little mischief girl has discovered toilet paper. She loves to follow us to the bathroom, close the door and play with tp. Thankfully she hasn't decided to go in there on her own....yet!

Last Sunday my mom fell and broke her arm so I have been busy going back and forth to Fort Collins to help her. As a family we headed up there Saturday to help out around the house and give Grandma G a smile by seeing Grace. While at GG's Grace was determined to master climbing up her stairs. Grace got pretty good at it and only scared us to death about a 1000 times. She gets the going up the stairs, but she hasn't quite figured out how to get down them. Here are some photos of Grace exploring at GG's.

And finally a photo of Huckleberry tuckered out after playing with the dogs at my mom's house. Lounging on the couch using Grace's stuffed animals as a pillow - too cute.

Oh and did you notice our new blog look? Hope you like it!

A post from Grace: Mom cut my bangs...

She only screwed them up a little. Hopefully the kids don't make fun of me.

We have a walker!

I think it is safe to say we officially have a walker now. The Saturday after her surgery she started walking everywhere around the house - not just her normal stay in the living room area. I don't know if she can see better or if something just clicked and she decided to take off on those tiny little feet, but it is pretty exciting. On Monday she walked around at daycare finally, but only inside. Today, she walked inside and outside at daycare constantly getting up if she fell and exploring the world.

Watch out world - Grace is on the move!

Surgery #6 went well.

Grace's 6th surgery went very well. The doctors said that her eye is stable and there are no new major issues. The muscle surgery also went well. They didn't bring her eye quite to center because the hope is her brain will click and she will start using it and bring it center on her own. You can tell her eye is over more and if we understood right it will come over more as time goes by.

Grace did great as usual. This time around she was more tired afterwards and slept a lot yesterday. I have to admit it was nice having her be so cuddly and even fall asleep on me which she rarely does anymore since she is constantly on the go. With all of that sleep though she woke up at 4:30 this morning! Needless to say we are all ready for a nap.

Today she is back to normal cruising around and having fun. And very hungry! I think she is catching up after yesterday. The hard part now is not letting her rub her eye, which she has only attempted a few times so it hasn't been too bad. The other hard part is getting this eye ointment that we have to swipe on her eyelashes four times a day. She is pretty over people messing with her eyes so there is some screaming when that happens - her not me. : )

We go back to the doctor next week for a check up, but so far so good. Thank you for your prayers and support!

A couple firsts and a busy weekend.

Grace has been a busy girl since her birthday. From practicing walking to going out and about around town, she is a busy bee.

Let's start off with one of the firsts - her first shiner. I picked her up from daycare and she had bonked the side of her face/eye and got her first shiner. Can't say I am surprised. She is into exploring everything and walking (up to around 7-8 steps at a time) that there are quite a few spills.

It healed pretty quickly and it didn't slow her down one bit!

On Saturday I took Grace over to Nordstrom to get her first pair of shoes-sneakers. I had asked around to my friends and they said one of the better brands to get for first shoes are Stride Rite and Nordstrom had a sale and we had a gift card so us girls went shopping while Brian was at work. I found her a cute pair of pink/purple sneakers for her to start wearing since she is walking more and more. It was so fun going to Nordstrom because they took her picture in her shoes and gave her a little stuffed animal named Nordy and just fawned over Grace the whole time saying how cute she is. It was so much fun! I need to scan the photo in at work tomorrow, so stay tuned for a photo.

Today we headed to Coors Field for the Cubs/Rockies game. The Cubs are on a bit of a losing streak and got swept by the Rockies, but we had fun anyway. Grandma G came with us as we all attempted to stay cool today.

Checking out her seat since there was an empty one by us.

Funny picture.

Serious picture.

This week we have Grace's 6th surgery. So say a prayer for her and her crazy parents on Thursday morning. I will update when I can with how it went. Have a great week!
