Wordless Wednesday - Thanksgiving Flashback

This post won't be so wordless...around the blogging world there is something called "Wordless Wednesday". Usually just a photo is posted. I might do it from time to time on our blog.

Above is Grace last year at Thanksgiving. She wasn't old enough to have any turkey yet, but she is this year.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Surgery #7

Grace had surgery #7 on Thursday. As always she was a trooper and did well. The surgery was once again muscle surgery to move her eye more center. The doctor said once she was done the eye was center. We are slowly getting looks at her eye since right now she tends to close it some if there is bright light - probably from all of the dilating drops the doctors use. It does look pretty close to center now.

While the surgery itself went well, the status report of her eye was not so good. Her right eye continues to be unhealthy and appears to be shutting down. The pressure is quite low and there is a calcium film that we knew about from the last surgery that is getting thicker. While the film could be removed the doctor isn't so sure her eye would heal due to how unhealthy it is. The doctor said she is still hopeful, but wanted to prepare us that we may have to get Grace a prosthetic eye down the road. The report was a shock and hard to swallow - much like everything else every eye doctor has told us since she was born.

I think we would both take this problem from Grace than have her deal with it. I think every parent just wants the best for their child and well wants them not to have to face hard things like this. However, Grace has never really known life with vision in both eyes and it has not slowed her down. She is a busy toddler who is developmentally on track and whether she has to have a prosthetic eye or not, she will continue to be an amazing little girl who will no doubt grow into a fabulous woman.

Continue to pray for Grace and her eye and that we soon will not have to face anymore surgeries.
