I took Grace in this morning for her eye check up. We last went in April. It is frankly nice to have such long breaks from the eye doctors right now. These appointments are always long as we see about 3 different people who are experts in different things. Thankfully, Grace was happy with a snack and trying to push buttons on the exam chair to get us through the long appointment.
The doctor thinks all looks the same right now and that her bad eye is stable and her good eye looks good. We are currently "medically patching" Grace. What this mean is that I dilate her good eye once a week. However, since we are outside everyday, all day, I haven't been as often because is really bothers Grace and no amount of sunglasses or hats really helps. The doctor understood and said to do it as much as we can and maybe try a real patch once a day....I foresee when I put a real patch on Grace we will have a major meltdown, but we shall see. I also found it kind of funny that the doctor was fine with me not using the eye drop all that much. I think she is finally letting us know that she has done as much as she can to get Grace to gain or use any vision in her bad eye and that medically patching is the end of the road - without really saying it.
So, really no news to report. All looks the same and we don't have to go back for 6 months, which will be nice. The major point the doctor reiterated today was to just make sure she wears her glasses so that we protect her good eye from a freak accident and to keep doing what we are doing. Here's hoping those glasses stand up to Grace's antics!

Rough Way to Start the Day
Today as Grace & I headed out to go to school and work (on time even which was surprising since Brian is out of town and not here to help), I was locking the front door and Grace started to go down the stairs. This is normal for her to take off on her own since she is so independent. Today though she misstepped and fell down our stairs. It was so scary and one of those slow motion moments in your life and I couldn't get to Grace fast enough. I picked her up and she was screaming. I could tell she had a few scrapes so we went back upstairs and I tried to clean her up. She was mad though because she wanted to go bye-bye to school to see her friends and wouldn't let me clean her scrapes at all. I figured she was fine, but given the couple of goose eggs on her head I wanted to get her checked out. I knew the pediatricians office didn't open for an hour so I called the after hours number, left a message and headed out to an urgent care place near us. The urgent care place wasn't open yet so I kept driving to the ER. While we were driving our doctor called us back and said yes she should probably get checked out and said he'd call us in to the ER. We got to Swedish and we got in and out really easily. I have never seen an ER so quiet. The doctors and nurses were great and checked her over and Grace checked out fine.
I stayed home with her today to keep an eye on her and she is napping now. Although I'm sure she is getting mad since she keeps stirring as I check on her every ten minutes. Captain paranoid here is just making sure you are okay! Someday, Grace will understand.
Here's hoping the rest of the week goes much more smoothly!

New West Fest
Saturday, Grace & I headed up to Fort Collins to hang out with my mom while Brian was out of town. On the way we encountered tons of traffic and then I got pulled over for speeding. Thankfully the officer gave me a warning and I was reminded to not get frustrated and not speed! After we finally got to mom's house we headed out to the New West Fest. It is an art festival that has been going on in Fort Collins for a long time. I haven't been in years, but we had some fun. Grace had a great time in this mini jumping castle for toddlers. She had a blast and would not leave.
Here is GG sporting a little hat headband thing that was for sale at the fest.
We had a fun time and I'm sure we will be going to the festival for years to come.
Always outside.
Grace loves to be outside - all the time! I'm pretty sure she would like to go out right when she wakes up at 6am. Lately she has been loving to go on our deck and blow bubbles. The day I took this photo, Grace felt she needed two different pairs of shoes on. She didn't care. She knows that she can go out as long as she has shoes on and she found the first two she could find. Silly girl.
Grace continues to love the pool. Although she prefers the little pool she swims in at GG's house because she has more freedom and can walk around. We still go down to our pool as much as we can though.
Grace is also loving walking our dog Huckleberry. Huck for the most part chills out and walks nicely when Grace holds the leash. Grace likes to follow him around and it is pretty funny to hear her say things to Huck that we say to him all the time. I always forget how much she takes in and then repeats!
If you need us, we are probably out having fun in the summer sun!
