Go Bears!

Colorado Springs Trip

Labor day weekend we decided to venture out of town and have some fun. We headed to Colorado Springs to do some things there. It was a busy weekend and we did a lot. It was tiring for all, but we had a fun little mini vacation as a family of 3.
We started off the trip by heading to Manitou Springs to walk around the little town and check things out. Grace was happy to get some ice cream to start her trip off.
Our first night we went to a Sky Sox game - the minor league team of the Rockies. They had fireworks that night too. Grace liked them a lot. She said after the game "those were loud, but I still liked them."

On our second day we headed to the Royal Gorge - the largest and highest suspension bridge. It is kind of scary. It scared me at around age 10-12 and it did again 20 years later! Grace didn't seem phased at all which is good.
Grace was still a bit tired and waking up after sleeping on the way to the gorge.
We posed with this Elk - he was pretty cool looking.

That night we headed back to the Springs to see the balloon glow at the balloon festival. It had been a long day and Grace wasn't really into the balloons and thought they were scary and loud which surprised us since after she loved the fireworks so much. We are pretty sure she was just exhausted.

On our last day we headed to the zoo. At the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo you can feed the giraffes and get up close and personal. Grace liked to watch, but wasn't into feeding them.

We had a fun trip together and it was so nice to get out of town for a weekend even if it were just an hours drive away. I'm sure we will have many adventures in our future.

Rockies Game

A few weeks ago Brian got some tickets from his work for the Rockies game. We decided to take Grace to see how she would do. She did pretty well for the most part even though she got to stay up way past her bed time. It probably helped that we were in a suite and she could roam pretty easily and there was an endless supply of pizza and fruit. We also got to meet Dinger the Rockies mascot. Grace wasn't too sure about him. She wouldn't give him a high five or hug, but ever since then she keeps talking about seeing the dinosaur and not being scared this time.

We get to go to a Rockies game next week when the Cubs are in town. Here's hoping she is just as good then as she was on this night.
